Review: Tortuga Bay

Today I want to review a store that is very important to me. Many of you will already know Tortuga Bay but for those who do not – you are missing out on some of the best products on the market. Given the fact that Tortuga keeps going even under the current situation in the Ukraine, they deserve our respect for more than just their amazing product quality. Let’s dive in! (Commercial / Werbung)

PRINT

The miniatures / parts come in casted resin…..I guess? Their casting quality is absolutely amazing. It’s so good in fact, I don’t really know how they are doing it. Casting? Printing? Forgotten STC technology? Dark sorcery? I don’t know. What I do know is, that it’s an absolute pleasure to work with. All details are sharp and clear. The material is of good quality, sands well, cuts well and is overall very nice to work with. A special emphasis needs to be put on the quality of the miniatures here. I have not come across many products in my 20+ hobby career that I like as much as Tortuga products. The only thing I could compare it to in  case of quality would be GW plastic products, which are still state of the art in our hobby. Nothing beats Games Workshop in case of quality but these products are getting close in my opinion.

FIT & MOULD

All parts are well defined and fit nicely together. They all need minimal sanding or cutting which is common to almost all miniatures but I emphasis that the clean-up work needed here is pretty low compared to most other manufacturers. Mould lines are almost non-existent which lends me to believe its really dark sorcery at hand here.

OVERALL

Overall I would totally recommend Tortuga Bay to friends and followers. They are one of the mostly frequented hobby stores next to Games Workshop in our hobby group and everyone involved loves their stuff. Go check out their website over at Tortuga Bay
